Why the process matters
The surface and contaminant determine the treatment.
Efflorescence forms when moisture transports soluble salts to a surface and evaporation leaves deposits behind. Hard-water deposits can also bond to masonry. Pressure may remove loose material but often does not solve bonded mineral residue.
Removal does not correct the moisture source that created efflorescence. Recurrence is possible when water continues moving through the assembly.
